Wildlife Photography | The Alternative Swan Lake – Viral Trends

Wildlife Photography | The Alternative Swan Lake

In this nature wildlife photography video, I head out to photograph swans at Astley Park in Chorley, Lancashire. The light isn’t good to me and the weather wasn’t what was forecast predicted, but keen to show that not all days are perfect, I head out anyway to see what I can capture. As is always the case with wildlife, you can never predict what you might see…and this morning was no exception!

I have put two images on at the end to show the sort of shots I was hoping to get, but completely failed on!

  1. Nicely done Simon, you guys all have such talent, I appreciate the time and effort that goes into making the pictures and video, however i want to see all of the content both good and bad because it is hard to find honest and helpful constructive criticism to improve my photography, so when I see mistakes that folks honestly share it does help me learn. Again i love the video and how you made the most of the light and the opportunity you had with the swans to create such beautiful images.
    Thanks for sharing.

  2. I remember your other episode of shooting waterfall, thought the images were impressive. Getting low and knee pads are definitely good choices to improve those kinds of images. Thanks for sharing. Happy you had positive feedback about sharing ventures that don't work as well as you wanted.

  3. Personally, I very much appreciate what all of you guys on Youtube do. It is such a wonderful resource to have to learn, to be inspired, to see other parts of the world. I think we sometimes take for granted the effort and expense you all willingly give. Anyway, the swan images were excellent in my opinion. The one of the two at 10:34 was wonderful.

  4. Excellent video Simon! Fantastic images at the end, the minamilst swan was absolutely inspiring!! Recently I've picked up the Sigma 150-600 C and paired with the 5D Mark IV the quality in great light is fantastic! I just have to slow down and really think about the shot "I'm forever rushing around"

  5. Cracking images Simon, sometimes the weather likes to poke fun at us early risers! So I think it is worth sharing the warts and all as this will help beginners get over any frustrations they may have. I can also recommend a gardeners kneeling mat as this can be a seat or a way of looking after the knees.

  6. Great video Simon. I’ve not been shooting long but have trouble shooting wildlife images on overcast or dull days, my images just don’t seem to leap out at you & can look dull & bland, any advice. Mark.

  7. Thank you Simon I really enjoyed watching this Vlog I have only just discovererd your channel so I will have to watch some more of your vlogs when I get chance. I liked the Swan photos like you say shame about the background but the swans looked good 😀

  8. I don’t think I’ve been to Astley Park since I got sober 23 years ago. When I want to get low I have to sort of roll off my scooter, I’ve had several people coming up offering help. I must get one of those viewers, I think it would make life a easier. I remember you using it on the Brick Croft. In comparison to my failures this was a major success. I liked the images with two swans, but the image from the past in the mist is incredible. Absolutely stunning! Great video Simon, really enjoyed it.
