Photographing Smith Rock – Landscape Photography on location

In this video I head to Smith Rock in Oregon and shoot in two completely different sets of conditions. Then stop by the Painted hills for some flat overcast sky photography.

  1. Hey Nick, great video ! Unlucky about the clouds ! I have a question about the first picture you took. The camera must've been faced downwards for the foreground, how do you keep the background ( the rocks ) looking so upright ?

  2. Great video! So you bracketed three exposures then took two more shots for focus stacking? Or did you focus while you were bracketing? I guess I'm asking if it were three shots or five? And I would love to know how you process them. Really enjoyed the video!

  3. Really enjoyed the video and the explanation of your views on composition and what your looking for in the final image. I think it's a great idea to do a vlog showing some of your pictures that don't make the grade and your reasons why. If I could take pictures as good as your discards I'd be a happy photographer, keep up the great work your my favourite

  4. Showing the "failures" as you said would be a great idea I think, there is even more to be learned for people if theres difficult situations or something like that I find=) And, having a coffee in a beautiful spot outside kinda makes everything worth it anyways =P
