  1. Great video! Have you used the lens correction in Lightroom? It works wonders for correcting any lens distortion. Also, if you like the grunge look, try sharpening it up a bit, and using the mask to only sharpen the edges.

    Thanks for making this video!

  2. When the landscape offers no straight lines, the straight lines on your subject can make the image look crooked. One additional thing I would have done was rotate that image slightly so that the top-most straight lines on the rig weren't displayed at such a diagonal angle. Of course, that's not appropriate in every photo, but in your sample, rotating 2° CCW would level the roof rack/light bar and provide better focus on the LC.

That could be a real thing artists do, or that could just be my personal preference. Something to play around with. I know nothing about photography.

One of my examples was this beach shot I took last year. I rotated it just slightly so the rear awning was parallel with the edge of the photo. Not doing so made things look wonky. https://ovrlxnd.com/images/fjcruiser/rotation-example.jpg

  3. I'm good with LR, but I'd like to see more of how to do videos with Premier. And how you stage moving shots (obviously run ahead or drive and then backup) and drone management. I suppose with some of the new DJI's they will follow you, but they really do add an element of interest and perspective to off-road adventures if done correctly and sparingly. Really considering the Air B4 a Death Valley trip that is coming up soon. 80 is staying at home. This trip, Power Wagon. 'Cause a Power Wagon Don't Care! (and it gets better gas milage and is more comfortable and can haul more and, and, and) #3630

  4. Great stuff, Michael! Some info for you on lens choices. The nifty fifty is awesome, but some other good ones are the Tamron SP line. Incredible! I recently picked up an 85mm f1.8 and a 45mm f1.8 and wow! Way better than Canon lenses, and that’s saying something. Incredible sharpness and no CA. Next lens for me is the Tamron 70-200mm f2.8…beautiful lens!

What’s your take on polarizers and graduated ND filters? The ND filters could help compress that dynamic range you dealt with in your sample image. That way you can get closer to what you want in-camera and save time editing.
