A Weird Day in New Orleans | Food and Street Photography

New Orleans is always strange, but there was something in the air today as I tried to shoot street photography in the city.
For more of my street photography check out my IG at @brendanvanson
We had just one day in New Orleans. So, we wanted to make the most out of our time eating, finding good food and music. And, I also wanted to do some street photography. But, things just didn’t go right from the start. We caught the trolley the wrong direction. Then, it started raining. And, even the food at Coop’s took way longer than it should have. In the end, we only had a couple hours to explore New Orleans.
It was @alajode’s first time in New Orleans, so I really wanted to show her how great the food is, and how cool a city it is. But there was just this weird vibe in the air. Maybe it’s because it’s a week before Mardi Gras? Or, it could have been the weather, but it was just a weird day.
I finally got to some street photography in New Orleans just before sunset and did get some shots I liked. But, I really do wish we had more than this day to explore the city.
Tomorrow, the photography channel pushes on north.

  1. Let me add to your creepy day…..I saw no beads on Jodie……….and as for Coops – 300lbs coming up soon…..:-) ……….. you guys eat well………observation … not being critical…..

  2. I love how you always keep it real & honest Brendan 🙂 I hope to visit New Orleans sometime , love of music ( jazz, blues,Cajun etc ) & all of its culture & vibe! But with Mardi Gras craziness soon happening, it's cool to see it's quieter moments too! Hope you're well rested before that epic plan of meet ups & travel from NYC to LA ! 🙂

  3. Yeah man, I've been on a lot of ultra-marathon road trips, and I'm kinda worried about your ambitions for the driving from NY to LA, and shooting sunrises and/or sunsets every day. Get as much sleep as you can!!! And don't feel obligated to make it to a particular destination if you're too exhausted and need to just pass out at a rest stop. (Got fold-flat seats in your rental car?)

  4. Every day I look forward to your vlog, except on Friday. You give a good image of the life of a travel photographer. But also be careful with yourself. Enjoy, but sometimes you have to take a step back,  to make two steps forward.
