  1. okay, this video is over, I don't remember a single game he said from back then. Where the heck were we supposed to get those games anyway. BGG.com wasn't even a thing. Walmart wasn't even a big deal yet. Kmart? no it was being boycotted back then by half the country. ESPN wasnt' even a household name

  2. 1998 the year Hasbro bought Avalon Hill for 6million. I still remember reading an article from a magazine some kids brought to school about that. I remember being sad that Avalon Hill was bought by Hasbro, we all thought that would be the end of gaming.

  3. I'm curious to see What's it going to be–In 1998 I was playing Phase 10, Skip-bo, and Dutch Blitz, we where way beyond Uno (I hadn't even learned that I wasn't good at Yahtzee yet)with my Grandma and another couple from our church, every Friday night, yes those games go have a strategy but that doesn't make them fun.

  4. Great games from 1998:

I loved Samurai and Through the Desert
Guillotine was VERY popular, but I personally did not enjoy it
Elfenland (Alan Moon / Whitewind) is probably one of my favorite games of the year

outside of that, definitely a very MEH year.

  5. Guillotine is my favorite game from 1998 and is still on my top 100 at #73.

Maul of America would be my 2nd favorite game, but is not on my top 100, and considerate a decent game. The components are horrible but this 1 vs many game was fairly fun.

These 2 games are the only ones worth mentioning that I liked and have played. But there was an awesome expansion published that year and that was:

RoboRally: Radioactive: probably on my top 25 expansions of all time, a fun expansion for RoboRally!

    As for these:

David & Goliath: I bought this based on Tom's review only when I saw it on sale for around $5. I played it 3-4 times and wasn't impressed. I still own it. For $5 I won't complain, but I won't dig it out to play it.

Through the Desert: another game I have played but didn't care for it. It isn't horrid, but I would never pursue playing this.
