Portfolio building the easy way – Landscape Photography

Landscape Photography Portfolio building the easy way. In this video, I will demonstrate how easy it is to get great shots for your portfolio. It pays to photograph the obvious!

Sometimes it pays dividends to simply look up great landscape photographs and go and grab them for your own portfolio. Research the obvious way by Googling landscape photography in a classic location such as the Lake District, or anywhere. Then grab your gear and go shoot them. Research in magazines and books too. Make it easy for yourself!

I demonstrate, well nearly anyway, how a little research has helped me bag a couple of excellent images for my portfolio.

Put your feet up, grab a coffee or something stronger, turn up the sound and enjoy my adventure.

  1. I was there a week ago as well Gary (just three days with the Mrs so minimal photography stuff alas) but weather was appalling (sat/sun/monday)…walked up Haystacks and met a couple who'd walked around from Honiston via the tops and they were really done in…gave them some of my rations !! ….amazing the differences in weather from the lake shores to the higher fells sometimes …beautiful images though and thanks for not doing a "failed" vlog !!

  2. Great Vid Gary, I find it hard to get about and can't really trek mountains and crawl through tropical rainforest, so I have to go to places that are easy to get to, and someday's that is a struggle (oh woe is me lol ) At times you feel because you haven't trekked a million miles, your efforts are a bit rubbish, but even a short walk to some is like an epic trek 🙂 You are really inspirational, thank you

  3. you must of been standing right above the bothy on minute 14.50 it blends in quite well , best way to get there is to follow the stream up and the bothy is on the right side of the stream as you climb..

  4. Another enjoyable watch and I had my fingers crossed for you walking the plank. I have a play way day next week and can't make my mind up between Ayrshire and the Lakes. Really like the fact you showed there are quite a few classics all within close distance so if the weather is right the Lakes might get the nod. You have cost me a few quid extra in diesel. Keep up the good work

  5. Another brilliant Vlog Gary, defo getting better with the editing, a bit more work on the navigational skills maybe :p. On a serious note the images are fantastic, tbh i personally think some of your best yet, the 10 stop really does make a wonderful shot. Samsung 8 it is then 🙂

  6. Again a great vlog Gary, so nice to see your enthousiasm on photography and your great pictures. Wants to make me go outside and shoot.. Tomorrow I will visit the Canon Experience Day in Brussels to get some motivation going again!

  7. A really enjoyable and informative video again Gary. If you were just starting out with a budget of about £600 pounds, what would you go for. I was looking at second hand eos750 d or even a 5d Mkii.
