Film Photography: Fujifilm Acros Going Away?

Fujifilm has announced a list of film that they will discontinue in 2018. In that list is the large format of my favorite film, Neopan Acros 100 black and white film. I just wanted to share my thoughts (as I’m pretty obsessed with this film) and also talk about what happens after it’s gone…

  1. Its a shame about the inevitable demise of fujifilm film stocks. My feeling towards it is not to stock up on Acros but to find a replacement and support a company still making film. I switched from Acros to ilford fp4, its different but beautiful. Have you tried Ferrania P30, that stuff is something special, hopefully production will ramp up on it in 2018. Cheers, jon

  2. Hi Ted, yes man , major bummer. You wonder why now cause there is a serious come back of film photography. Old Leica's and the like are getting more expensive and you see more You Tube channels pop up focussing on film photography. But it will probably be all about ROI and profits. So bottoms up for years of happy Fuji Film shooting.

  3. Post this on all fujifilm social media because it's a travesty, not that they care it's all about the almighty $$$. I've heard rumours that they have killed off lots of film stocks and what we are seeing is the stock pile, I really hope that's not the case 😒😞 Your work with this film is fantastic, the tones you seem to get are awesome, I've never seen this film used like this before. Very inspirational so thanks πŸ™ŒπŸ˜Š

  4. I can't imagine that it would be profitable for Fujifilm to make any film at all so I'm surprised to hear that they're actually still manufacturing it. This will probably all end soon.

  5. I noticed in the Fuji info page that it only appears to mentions discontinuing film sales in packs of 5 rolls and only 36 frame rolls. In Britain, the packs of fuji film have, in recent years only either come in packs of 3 (for superia 100 & 400) or individually for all the superia range and the pro films ie 400h and E6. I guess the prices will shoot up and folk will have to make do with 24 shot rolls..
