  1. Here's my advice, don't fly fighters if you can't handle the G's the jet is designed to handle. I don't know how this pilot fell through the cracks and made it all the way to flying the viper but his service flying it would've been terminated right there.

  2. Gloc at 8.1G's Was still in full afterburner. was supersonic. Jet auto corrected into a 9.1G pullout. that is enough to grey/blackout with enough pitch authority again. was probably out until he confirmed terminate

  3. What's the parameter for FLYUP mode to kick in, exactly? Just if there hasn't been a control input in a while and the aircraft is diving? I think learning how these fly by wire systems are designed to save us from human error is pretty awesome

  4. They invented this not to save the pilots, but to save the very expensive planes; no doubt if it's beind enemy lines they'll override & crash it, so pilot can't be tortured for info, nor can plane be recovered & used. . .

  5. Humans are now the weak link in combat aviation. The aircraft are more capable than human physiology can handle. An AI with total control over the aircraft could probably kill a human passenger through flight maneuvers alone.

  6. I take it the helment had sensors in it that were linked to the planes auto pilot system and when that big black box showed up it told the plane that the pilot was unconsious?

  7. This F-16 pilot pulled an 8.3g pull and he blacked out or GLOC! Thank god for the AGCAS. He dropped in altitude from 17,290 to 7,600 before his recovery and went to a low of 4,340. If not for the AGCAS this guy would have been a lawn dart!
