Landscape Photography | Alpenglow in the Alps of Austria – Viral Trends

Landscape Photography | Alpenglow in the Alps of Austria

Landscape Photograph and a bit of Alpenglow in the Alps of Austria.
Check out more of my travel and landscape photography on Instagram @brendanvanson.
I woke up from my hotel in the Tirol region of Austria for a bit of travel photography. Well, actually, with these massive mountains around can you call it anything other than landscape photography?
Alpenglow on the Alps above an old church here in Austria was the goal of the morning. I have shot this location before, but I really wanted to knock it out of the park this time. So, since I shot it at sunset last, I thought I’d come back at sunrise when the light was better.
Essentially, alpenglow is when that first or last bit of sunlight hits the top of mountains. When it does, the extremely soft light shows as bright red or orange. It is such a beautiful phenomenon. The term comes from the Alps. Essentially, Mountains= Alpen. And glow = well, that’s self-explanatory.
Landscape photography is so often about light, and in particular getting nice clouds. However, in the mountains, a little alpenglow can save an otherwise boring sky.
This morning, the alpenglow was on point in the Alps of Austria. I got some really beautiful light hitting the top of the peaks after I really didn’t think I was going to. I’m very happy how the morning went.
After the landscape photography session in the morning, I joined some of the others from the blog trip to Austria on a hike into the mountains outside of Hall. It was a beautiful hike, and a great way to end what has been a beautiful trip to the Tirol region.
I am only in Austria on the shortest of trips, as tomorrow I’m already heading out of the country.
So, sadly, for now this is the last of the Austria vlogs.
But, there will be more travel and landscape photography in the next destination; which is Scotland!

  1. Do you ever take a quick snapshot at a location, like that bridge with the river? Kind of as a way to remind yourself of the location for future visits at a more ideal time?
Also, will that 1 million dollars be represented on this month's income octopus? ?

  2. Great episode. Glad I found this vlog. It's what i've been looking for. A perfect combination of travel and photography along with tutorial type stuff. Excellent. We'll have to go back and binge all your vids.

  3. The Alps are amazing! You should take a look for the Tour du Mont Blanc, a 170km hike around the mont blanc. i finished it last week and it's truly spectacular! I also saw that Jeff Bartlett was attempting it as well just after me, he got some amazing pictures from there.

  4. Great episode Brendan! "I'm a laziest," lol. Classic. I feel the same as you regarding being in the mountains too. Of all the places I've been and I go, the mountains are my favorite.

  5. Brendan can you and Thomas sort things out ? You both posted the exact same time. For some reason mine said no views am I first?. Always enjoy your friendly approach and enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing your work
